What we do with your donations

When we say “we make things,” that includes you. You can help with money, time or materials. Help us keep making things and asking questions.

We create our own experiments, projects, events and publications. By “our own,” we mean that they are made possible by volunteers who give their time, people at Despacio who put in extra hours, income left over from our work (we are a nonprofit foundation, so we reinvest it in our mission), and donations. We’ve done everything from a flash mob on TransMilenio to make the ride more pleasant to “nolulares” that help people take a break from screens.

Your donation helps Despacio keep doing these things: trying out ideas that challenge our assumptions and inviting people to think differently about the pace of life and the pace of our cities.

Un experimento se refiere a hacer una intervención puntual y ver qué pasa. Según esa definición amplia, hemos hecho experimentos y actividades chéveres para comprender cómo hacer que la gente vaya más despacio.

Los proyectos son ejercicios más amplios en los que aplicamos nuestro conocimiento de manera más elaborada.

Para divulgar las diferentes preguntas que nos hemos hecho y los resultados de nuestros experimentos o proyectos, hacemos eventos que incluyen cursos, talleres y charlas para explicar lo que hemos aprendido.

Publications

Cuando ya tenemos muchas cosas que decir y nos salen letreros, hacemos publicaciones que muestran los resultados de nuestro trabajo (y de varias de las cosas descritas arriba) sobre temas que nos apasionan.
