Despacio spent the last two weeks in Paris at the 21st Conference of the Parties (COP 21<\/a>). We helped coordinate the Sustainable Low-Carbon Transport Partnership\u00a0(SLoCaT<\/a>) booth in the Green Zone and the joint\u00a0FIA Foundation<\/a>–ITDP<\/a>–TRF<\/a>\u00a0booth in the Blue Zone. We provided visitors with general information about the work of SLoCaT and other organizations, as well as the central role of sustainable transport in mitigating climate change. Despacio also assisted at\u00a0Transport Day 2015<\/a>, an important event which\u00a0SLoCaT, the Bridging the Gap Initiative (BtG) and\u00a0Michelin Challenge Bibendum (MCB) organized to give visibility to the transport sector in the fight against climate change. Carlosfelipe Pardo, Despacio’s Executive Director, presenting at the COP21<\/em><\/p><\/div>\n

Carlosfelipe Pardo, Despacio’s executive director, gave three presentations during the COP. The first was “Promoting low-carbon transport,” a GIZ\u00a0TRANSfer<\/a>\u00a0event at the\u00a0German Pavillion. Pardo’s presentation focused on mitigation policies in Colombia and TRANSfer’s efforts to implement a\u00a0NAMA for\u00a0active transport and travel demand management.<\/p>\n

He also presented at “Sustainable urban development through transit-oriented development.”<\/a>\u00a0The event was organized by the city of Tshwane, South Africa at the Transformative Actions Program (TAP) Pavillion. Pardo discussed the\u00a0“Bogota 21<\/a>” study and the importance of value capture and social inclusion within TOD projects. Finally, Pardo presented at “Transforming national ambition into local implementation,” an event at the Peru Pavillion about Latin American experiences with transport and mobility.<\/p>\n
